This 2022-23 Premier League is the 31st tournament of the Premier League, and the 124th season of top-flight English football overall. Manchester City is the current defending champions, having won both the 2020-21 and 2021-22 Premier League titles. Starting from the 2022-23 competition, football clubs will be able to make 5 rather than 3 regular substitutions. These substitutions can be made in three stoppages during match time, and additionally at halftime, in line with other top European football leagues. There will also be a mid-season break for the 2022 FIFA World Cup scheduled in Qatar, with the last match on the 12-13 Nov 2022, and the first match after the Football World Cup on 26 Dec 2022, following the World Cup final on 18 December 2022.
